Mr. Burgio has been active in all aspects of civil trial practice with emphasis on negligence defense, general liability, automobile trucking and transportation, products liability, workers' compensation, and commercial and estate litigation. He also has expertise in the areas of wills, trusts, estate planning and administration, real estate, corporate and business law and municipal court prosecution and defense.
Mr. Burgio received his undergraduate degree from Villanova University in 1969 and his Juris Doctorate Degree from the Dickinson School of Law, Carlisle, Pennsylvania in 1972. He was admitted to the New Jersey Bar in 1972 and was the prosecutor for the Township of the Borough of Caldwell from 1975 to 1987. Mr. Burgio has been a 35+ Year member, Past President and Secretary of the Rotary Club of the Caldwells, Recipient of the "Service Above Self Award" from the Rotary Club of the Caldwells, Rotary International Paul Harris Fellow Award, 1988 and 1993, Member and Past Board of Directors of the North Essex Chamber of Commerce, Treasurer of the Grover Cleveland Scholarship Fund, Chairman of the Caldwell Juvenile Conference Committee, 1978 - 1994, former member of the Board of Trustees of the Family and Children Services of North Essex, and former member of the Board of Trustees of Clara Maass Hospital Continuing Care Center.
Mr. Burgio has also been a member of the American Bar Association, New Jersey State Bar Association, Essex County Bar Association, Defense Research Institute, Association of Transportation Practitioners, Independent Truckers Association, American Truckers Legal Association, and Owner/Operator of the Independent Drivers Association. Mr. Burgio joined Kozyra & Hartz, LLC as Of Counsel in July 2012.
