On December 8, 2014, Barry A. Kozyra appeared as a guest speaker on handling high profile clients in legal crisis. The program took place at the New York Jets Training Center and focused on how National Football League (NFL), teams like the New York Jets and players in the professional sports industry handle criminal charges and domestic violence both in the court and through the media, while also dealing with marketing, endorsements and league eligibility requirements. Particular attention was given to the complexity and interaction among the criminal and civil justice systems, the rights of victims and players, balanced with the operation of the league, the professional sports teams and the interests of the public and the media.
The symposium included a discussion of recent news, including both the Ray Rice and Adrian Peterson cases and how the players and their incidents were addressed by the NFL and their two teams, the Baltimore Ravens and the Minnesota Vikings.
